Camera Settings
When I arrived at the concert hall I took one test picture and realized I needed to make a white balance adjustment. The test picture was obviously very tinted. When your pictures are overly yellow, orange or blue you know the white balance needs adjusting. Your camera manual has information on this or simply Google white balance. I ran out to the car and grabbed something called an Expo-disk, which is used to adjust white balance. A piece of white paper works also.
The light in the concert hall is photographically challenging. I had to push the ISO on the camera to 3200. ISO 3200 requires noise reduction software to be used afterwards otherwise the pictures would be grainy. Even using noise reduction software shooting at 3200 takes away from the picture quality.
To get a decent shutter speed (over 1/125th) I had to set the aperture to f/2.8. I would have preferred a f/8-ish area setting but to get the light right I had to use this setting.
These pictures were shot without a flash.
