Night time photography at sporting events is always a challenge. Even in the best lit sporting arenas, light is always an issue. Look up at the ceiling during your next pro basketball or hockey game. Notice all that flashing? Those are house strobes being fired by the team photographer.

Shooting drag racing at night requires a little help with a flash, although there are some cars and positions a decent picture can be pulled off without a flash.

THE PROBLEM:

Ever try shooting into the sun? Take the lampshade off a lamp at home and take a picture of it. Pretty ugly?

I did not delete the headlight shots but these shots would have been better with just running lights. Cars in the staging lanes with headlights on also are problems.
