The 400mm lens is a great lens but it is too much magnification for rodeo and it is way to clumsy. It is better for motor-sports, football, soccer, etc.
The only reason I used it was to practice a bit with it. I wanted to see how it would do shooting into the open-sided arena and handle that light.
