To get great firework pictures you have to set the camera on manual. ISO = 100 area; Aperture = f/11 area; Shutter = 2 second area; Focus = manual (set it before fireworks start).
I made the mistake at Fair Park getting to close (actually they set off the fireworks closer than I anticipated). Glad I had a wide lens with me.
There was a neat shot of the fireworks at Fair Park in the Dallas Morning News. I could not find it but from now on when I shoot fireworks I'm going to have one camera capturing shots like I've posted here as examples.
