Concert Pictures (part 1)

I shoot a lot of low light situations. The concert was at the "line" to be able to take pictures. The camera was set using ISO 6400 (film cameras are usually ISO 100). 6400 will help in low light but decreases the image quality. The aperture was set at f/2.8 (needed every bit of it for this low light situations). With this setting you only get sharp focus on the subject you have the dot on, everything else is going to blur a bit. When the light isn't cooperating just get what you can. Some pictures are better than no pictures.

The ideal set up would be two strobes with umbrellas. Probably no more than 1/4 power would be plenty of light. Since it was a concert strobes would be a distraction. Probably double the stage lighting that was used would get it to a decent area where the camera could be set at 1600 ISO and a f/5.6 or so. Actually the lighting was fine when the overheads were on.
Adding additional stage lighting, strobes with umbrellas, or keeping the overhead lights on slightly would improve the picture quality dramatically.
